Boston's Free Attraction Ranks Among America's Best, Says USA Today Readers

There’s nothing better than a free attraction, and according to USA Today readers, Boston boasts one of the best in the nation.

In the recently released 2024 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards, USA Today included Boston’s Freedom Trail among the top 10 best free attractions in America, ranking it at No. 9.

"Despite being free, each attraction on our list offers incredible value," noted the publication.

Boston’s iconic 2.5-mile Freedom Trail, which links 16 historical sites, draws over 4 million visitors each year.

Here’s what USA Today had to say about the Freedom Trail:

"Starting at Boston Common, but easily accessible at any point, the Freedom Trail provides a deep dive into the city’s rich history. This walkable trail highlights some of Boston’s most significant landmarks, including Park Street Church, the Old State House, Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere House, and the USS Constitution."

Topping the list as the No. 1 free attraction in America is the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, Florida, as voted by USA Today readers.

For the 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards, USA Today travel experts nominate 20 contenders in various categories, ranging from food and lodging to destinations and activities. Readers then vote to determine the top 10.
