The Portland, Oregon bar built around women’s sports — every screen, all the time — now has a Boston address to go with the expansion reported last spring. A licensing board hearing notice puts it in the One India Street Apartments, where India Street and Broad Street meet State Street, with a main dining room, a main bar, a private dining room and a seasonal patio. The VFW Parkway space that held Mission on Fire — and Sofia’s, Vintage and Fontaine’s before it — is set to become an Italian room run by Leonardo Testa, son of the restaurateur Vinny Testa. Boston Restaurant Talk sourced this on Aug 27 from a hiring listing and a post in its own readers’ group rather than from the operator, so treat the timing as unconfirmed until someone puts a date on it. On the ballot: the Senate primary between Ed Markey and Seth Moulton, the two Republicans competing for the chance to face Governor Maura Healey in November, and — because Moulton gave up his seat to run — the first open congressional race in Massachusetts since 2020, a six-way Democratic contest in the 6th District between Dan Koh, Tram Nguyen, John Beccia, Beth Andres-Beck and two others. In a state this blue the September primary is usually the decisive round, which is why WBUR spent the run-up asking whether 2026 would echo 2018, when several incumbent Democrats lost to challengers. More than a dozen have now turned them off or ended their contracts, after places including Hopkinton, Auburn and New Bedford raised concerns about privacy and about officers using the systems inappropriately. More than a hundred people packed onto a streetcar meant to seat a few dozen, and crowds turned out to cheer it in. Read more → | Business Copper Mill, a proposed 20-plus-storey, 500-unit mixed-use tower in the middle of Davis Square, is off. Chief executive Andrew Flynn withdrew in a letter to the Davis Square Neighborhood Council, writing that after roughly 75 stakeholder events and several redesigns the City of Somerville “was never able to direct us toward any actionable next step.” Mayor Jake Wilson told Cambridge Day the suggestion that the city played a major role is “pretty laughable,” pointing instead to the state pausing and then denying the project’s Chapter 40B funding application.
