A few times a year, the Museum of Fine Arts on Huntington Avenue clears out its daytime crowd and reopens at night as a full-on after-hours party that runs well past midnight. DJs and dancing take over the grand spaces, pop-up performances surface around the building, art-making stations appear, and the collection galleries stay open — so you can drift from a dance floor to centuries-old masterpieces and back.

Late Nites draws a younger, dressed-up crowd than the museum’s usual visitors, though all ages are admitted; you’ll need to be 21-plus with ID for the bars, and food and drink are sold throughout the night. Advance tickets routinely sell out, and there’s no re-entry once you leave, so arrive with your whole group. It’s the MFA at its least buttoned-up.
