Home to Fenway Park, major museums, and student-heavy streets, Fenway–Kenmore is where baseball, culture, and campus life meet beside the Back Bay Fens.

Fenway–Kenmore sits just west of Back Bay and south of the Charles River, and it feels like three Boston personalities stacked into one tight grid: stadium streets, museum days, and campus nights. It’s the kind of neighborhood where you can go from a quiet park path to a packed sports bar in five minutes—often on the same block.

Kenmore Square is the front door. Streets radiate outward toward Boston University, Back Bay, and the museum corridor, and the huge CITGO sign has long been the “you’re here” landmark for this side of the city.

A short walk away, Fenway Park is stitched into the neighborhood rather than set apart—no massive parking lots, no dead zones, just regular city blocks that explode into game-day noise when the Sox are in town. Even when there isn’t a first pitch, tours, concerts, and events keep the Fenway area busy.

South of the ballpark, the neighborhood shifts into art-and-garden mode. The Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum sit near the Back Bay Fens, drawing visitors for world-class collections and giving Fenway–Kenmore a slower, more “daytime Boston” rhythm between games and nights out.

And then there are the Fens themselves: a historic parkland created as part of the Emerald Necklace, designed to solve a real drainage and public-health problem while also giving the city a sweeping green buffer. Today it’s walking paths, gardens, fields, and open views that make Fenway–Kenmore feel greener than most neighborhoods this close to Downtown.

Fenway–Kenmore is also a major education hub—Boston University anchors the northern edge, and other schools cluster nearby—so you’ll feel the student presence in the late-night food options, music venues, and constant street life.
