Statuses are read off the MBTA’s alert feed and cover today specifically — a delay that ends before this morning is not on the board. One thing that is not a service change but is worth knowing if you ride the Framingham/Worcester Line: the MBTA says the online timetable on mbta.com is currently wrong, and points riders to the PDF timetable instead. This week on the T · planned work Orange Line, Aug 20 through Aug 30. No trains between Oak Grove and Back Bay for eleven days. Shuttle buses run Oak Grove to North Station, and the MBTA is pointing riders at the Green Line for North Station to Copley and Back Bay. If your commute touches that stretch, Thursday is the morning to have already worked this out. Brandon Hall, Green Line C, through Oct 4. Trains started passing it yesterday and will keep doing so for seven weeks while the stop gets accessibility upgrades. Fairbanks St and Summit Ave are the alternatives, 0.1 to 0.2 miles away, which the T puts at a four- to five-minute walk. Symphony, Green Line E, indefinitely. Closed for major accessibility work, with Prudential and Northeastern as the alternatives. The MBTA expects it back in 2029. |

| Commuter rail Around 5:40am Monday, an inbound train from Providence reported a wire down at Back Bay Station and took more than half an hour of delay itself. NBC10 Boston reports the knock-on hit the Fairmount, Newburyport, Needham, Stoughton, Franklin, Providence, Worcester and Fitchburg lines — eight of them — with Back Bay and South Station trains told to expect up to thirty minutes. Trains were routed through other tracks while crews worked, no injuries were reported, and some delays were still clearing at 9:30am. If yesterday made no sense from a platform, that is why. | Courts The trial entered its fourth week of testimony yesterday, and Boston.com reports the prosecution is close to resting — which would hand the floor to defense attorney Kevin Reddington and his witnesses. Monday’s stand belonged to a digital forensics specialist from Cellebrite; the last session before it covered the journal entries and phone searches investigators recovered. A procedural turn, but the one that decides what the rest of this trial looks like. | Public safety Boston police took a radio call just before 3:30am for a person stabbed near Harvard Street and Wilbert Road, WHDH reports, and found an adult man with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead there. Parts of the street were closed off through the morning. No arrests have been made and the department has not released a name. | Business Demetrios Pseudoikonomou, 55, of Belmont, was charged last Wednesday in Worcester federal court with eight counts of aiding the filing of false tax returns. Prosecutors allege that between 2018 and 2023 he left more than $1.6 million in receipts and rental income off the books at Cappy’s Pizza and Subs on Westland Avenue and an apartment building he ran, avoiding more than $520,000 in federal income tax. The case, Boston.com reports, was made by an undercover agent posing as a buyer for the restaurant, starting in January 2022 — the month Cappy’s was listed for sale. He was released on condition of a DNA test and is due back in court Sept 23; his lawyer did not respond to a request for comment. The charge carries up to three years. |
