The everyday board is three Green Line stops and one Silver Line evening detour. Then on Saturday the Green Line’s central tunnel closes for nine days, through Oct 4, and the Blue Line goes to a single track at Wonderland for the weekend. Plan the weekend now, not Friday night. This week on the T Saturday, Sept 26 through Sunday, Oct 4: no Green Line trains between North Station and Babcock St on the B, Kenmore on the C and D, or Heath St on the E. The T’s notice says to use shuttle buses between Babcock, Kenmore and Heath St and Copley or Back Bay, the Route 39 bus toward Heath St, and the Orange Line between North Station and Back Bay. Nine days, and it covers the weekend the Cubs are at Fenway. The same weekend on the Blue Line: switch work at Wonderland puts all trains on a single track between Wonderland and Revere Beach on Sept 26 and 27, and again Oct 3 and 4. Nothing is suspended; expect the gaps between trains to stretch. Boston’s slowest bus, in numbers: the SL4 between South Station and Nubian averaged 6.09 mph last October, which makes it the slowest route on the T, according to the third edition of TransitMatters’ Pokey/Schleppie report. The advocacy group’s ranking, built from the MBTA’s own speed data, found the ten slowest routes averaging 6.42 mph, down from 6.83 mph two years ago, with the 1 bus from Roxbury to Harvard second at 6.2. Seven of last year’s ten slowest are back on the list. One number did improve: bunching — buses arriving in clumps rather than evenly spaced — fell to 13.9 percent on the ten worst routes, down nearly two points. Almost every one of the ten slowest routes does its worst crawling on streets inside Boston, which the piece treats as the point: these are city streets, and the fixes — bus lanes, signal priority — are city decisions. The city, for its part, is expanding bus lanes and signal priority and adding bus-mounted cameras to ticket drivers who block a lane. The report’s own suggestions include finishing the Hyde Park Avenue and Blue Hill Avenue corridors and restoring the bus lanes removed from North Washington and Boylston streets. | Public Safety Former chief Joseph Solomon admitted Friday to two counts of perjury by written affidavit, one count of uttering a forged document, one of procurement fraud and 13 civil service violations, in a case Attorney General Andrea Campbell’s office built around allegations he bent hiring and benefits rules for himself and others in his department. He was sentenced to two and a half years in the House of Corrections with 30 days to serve and the rest suspended for three years, and he gives up his firearms licence, his private investigator’s licence and his city pension. Campbell’s office says the pension forfeiture alone cuts about $3.7 million from what Methuen owes its retirement fund. Per Boston.com.
