The square’s most famous feature is the towering, illuminated Citgo sign, a double-faced neon-and-LED landmark that has loomed over the area for decades and regularly appears on television behind Fenway Park’s Green Monster. The city has approved a project to reposition the sign higher and slightly east to keep it visible amid new development, so its exact placement may be changing. Kenmore is a transit hub as well, making it an easy starting point for exploring Fenway, the Esplanade, and Back Bay.
