Francis D. Martini Memorial Shell Park is a riverside park in the Readville section of Hyde Park, stretched along an elongated triangle of land between Truman Parkway and the Neponset River. Its centerpiece is the Martini Shell, an outdoor amphitheater built in 1960 and named in honor of Francis D. Martini, a U.S. Army private from the area who was killed in combat during World War II. The bandshell stage hosts musical performances and occasional outdoor movie screenings in warmer months.
Beyond the amphitheater, the roughly five-and-a-half-acre park offers basketball and tennis courts and a ball field, plus a launch point for paddling on the Neponset River. Across Truman Parkway, the connected Moynihan Recreation Area adds athletic fields, a playground, and a spray deck.
