Piers Park is an 11-acre waterfront park on Marginal Street in East Boston, owned and operated by the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport). Opened to the public in 1995, it transformed a stretch of former industrial waterfront into one of the city’s most scenic green spaces, projecting out over Boston Harbor toward the downtown skyline. A long landscaped pier walkway leads to shaded pavilions and a pair of viewing towers that frame postcard views of the Financial District and the harbor.
The park is designed for gathering and recreation, with a grassy amphitheater used for small outdoor concerts, a playground, and broad lawns and benches facing the water. It’s also home to the Piers Park Sailing Center, a community boating program that runs lessons and excursions on the harbor. Reachable on foot from the Blue Line, Piers Park is a favorite spot for sunset watching, picnics and skyline photography, and it anchors the revitalized East Boston Harborwalk.
